Easter Chick Cupcakes

These little Easter chicks make adorable cupcakes to add to your holiday celebration.

INGREDIENTS

Favorite Cupcake Mix (or recipe)

Favorite Buttercream Icing Recipe

WILTON Icing Colors: Black, Lemon Yellow, Golden Yellow, Orange

Disposable Decorating Bags by CELEBRATE IT

WILTON Tip Set

Two Round Decorating Tips by CELEBRATE IT (Size #3)

WILTON Decorating Tip (Size #352)

WILTON 9” Angled Spatula

Cooking Rack by CELEBRATE IT

 

DIRECTIONS

1.Prepare the cupcake batter by following the package directions of your mix (or your favorite recipe). Bake cupcakes in baking cups, then let them cool.

2.Prepare buttercream icing, according to your favorite recipe.

3.Once your icing is finished, divide it up and color it as follows:

   –  Tint two cups of icing Yellow

   –  Tint 1/4 cup of icing Black

   –  Tint 1/4 cup of icing Orange

TIP: To get the Bright Yellow chick color shown in photo, combine Lemon Yellow coloring with a touch of Golden Yellow coloring.

4.Separate icing colors into disposable decorating bags. Once you have filled each bag, cut it open and add a Tip, as follows:

   –  Fit a disposable decorating bag with Tip #3 and fill with black icing

   –  Fit a disposable decorating bag with Tip #3 and fill with orange icing

   –  Fit a disposable decorating bag with Tip #352 and fill with 1/2 cup of the yellow icing

5.Use your spatula to ice all of the cupcakes with the remaining yellow icing. Use the yellow icing in the bag to pipe adorable tufts of feathers onto each cupcake, just as you would make pull-out leaves.

6.Use the black icing in the bag to pipe a pair of little dot eyes onto each cupcake.

7.Finally, use the orange icing in the bag to outline, and then fill in, each little chick’s beak.
